About YAML Viewer

YAML Viewer shows YAML as a collapsible tree, so you can understand deeply nested configuration — Kubernetes manifests, Helm values, GitHub Actions workflows, OpenAPI specs — at a glance. Each mapping and list shows how many entries it has.

Values are colour-coded by type, which makes it easy to spot a number or boolean that should have been text. Everything runs locally in your browser — the text you paste is never uploaded.

How to use YAML Viewer

  1. Paste YAML or upload a .yaml / .yml file.
  2. Press View Tree.
  3. Expand and collapse sections to explore.

Key features

  • Collapsible tree of mappings and lists
  • Entry counts for every level
  • Values colour-coded by type
  • Anchors and merge keys resolved

When to use YAML Viewer

  • Understanding a large Helm values file or Kubernetes manifest.
  • Reviewing a CI pipeline's structure.
  • Exploring OpenAPI specifications written in YAML.

Tips and common problems

  • Anchors and merge keys are resolved, so you see the final values.
  • Collapse top-level sections to see the overall structure first.
  • Secrets in config never leave your device here — the YAML is parsed in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

No. The viewer follows YAML 1.2, where only true and false are booleans, so yes/no/on/off stay text. Older YAML 1.1 tools may read them as booleans — quote them to be safe everywhere.
