Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This policy explains what information FilesSwift (filesswift.com) handles when you use our tools, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it plainly. If anything is unclear, please contact us.
1. Files you upload
Many of our tools — JSON, XML, YAML and text tools, encoders, generators and most developer utilities — run entirely in your browser. With those tools, the text or file you work with never leaves your device.
Tools that need server processing (for example PDF, Office, image, audio and video conversion) send your file to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We use the file only to produce the result you asked for:
- We do not read, analyse, share or sell the contents of your files.
- Uploaded files and results are deleted automatically. Download links expire 15 minutes after the result is ready, and a clean-up job removes any remaining temporary files that are older than 15 minutes.
- Passwords you type into tools such as Protect PDF or Unlock PDF are used only for that operation. They are not stored, and they are masked in our error logs.
2. Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like most websites, our server records technical information about requests — IP address, date and time, the page or API address requested, and error details. We use these logs to keep the service running, investigate errors and block abuse (for example, rate limiting). Logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to build profiles of individual users.
- Device identifier. To remember your favourite tools and which tools you use most, your browser stores a random identifier in local storage. It is sent with those requests so we can show your favourites; it does not contain your name, email or any other personal details.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from and which devices they use. Google Analytics uses cookies. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
3. Information you choose to give us
- Contact and feedback forms. If you send us a message, we store your name, email address, rating and message so that we can read and reply to it.
- Conversion feedback. If you rate a conversion, we store your rating and optional comment together with the tool name, browser, device type, operating system and the country derived from your IP address (the IP address itself is not stored with your feedback).
We use this information only to answer you and to improve our tools. We do not sell it or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Advertising and cookies
FilesSwift is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Reviews. Our home page may show reviews from Trustpilot using Trustpilot's official widget. When it loads, your browser connects to Trustpilot, which may set its own cookies under its privacy policy.
Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), you will be asked for consent before personalised ads or non-essential cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the tools will keep working, although some preferences may not be remembered.
5. How long we keep information
- Uploaded and converted files: deleted automatically, normally within 15 minutes and at most about an hour.
- Server logs: kept only as long as needed to run and secure the service.
- Messages and feedback you send: kept while they are useful for support and improving the service. You can ask us to delete them.
- Favourites and usage counts linked to your device identifier: kept until you clear your browser storage or ask us to delete them.
6. Security
All traffic to FilesSwift uses HTTPS. Uploaded files are stored only temporarily in a private location on our server and are not publicly listed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please avoid uploading documents you are not comfortable processing online.
7. Your choices and rights
You can use our in-browser tools without sending us any data, block cookies in your browser, and opt out of personalised ads as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us and tell us what you would like us to do.
8. Children
FilesSwift is a general-audience service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our tools or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
