About Image Converter
Image Converter changes an image from one format to another — including JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO and SVG — and can also save an image as a PDF. It also opens iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos, which many websites and Windows programs still cannot read.
Typical uses: turning a WebP downloaded from a website into a JPG you can edit, making a PNG with a transparent background, creating a favicon (ICO), or shrinking photos by converting them to modern WebP or AVIF. Files are sent over HTTPS, processed on our server and deleted automatically after you download the result.
How to use Image Converter
- Upload an image (up to 50 MB).
- Choose the output format from the list of formats available for your file.
- Press Convert and download the new image.
Key features
- JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, SVG and PDF output
- Reads iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos
- Transparency kept when the target format supports it
- Files checked by content, not just by extension
When to use Image Converter
- Turning iPhone HEIC photos into JPG so a website or Windows PC accepts them.
- Converting WebP images saved from websites into JPG or PNG for editing or printing.
- Making a favicon (ICO) from a logo, or a lighter WebP/AVIF version of a photo for your own website.
Tips and common problems
- Choose PNG for screenshots, logos and text; choose JPG or WebP for photos.
- Converting a JPG to PNG does not improve quality — it only makes the file bigger.
- If a form asks for JPG, also check its size limit; resize or compress the result if needed.
- Animated GIFs: most other formats keep only a single frame.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, for formats that support it (PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, ICO). JPG and BMP have no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a solid background.
Converting to PNG, TIFF or BMP is lossless. JPG, WebP and AVIF use high-quality compression, so the result looks the same to the eye but is not bit-for-bit identical.
No. Photos and pixel images cannot be turned into true vectors automatically; the picture is wrapped inside an SVG file. For a scalable logo, redraw it as a vector.
WebP is supported by all modern browsers and is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality. AVIF is smaller still but slower to create.
